Goodbye 2011, Hello 2012!

As 2011 winds down tonight, I just wanted to take a minute to wish all my family, friends, customers and fellow stampers a safe, happy and blessed New Year. This poem sums it up really well :)

New Year’s Reflections

Looking back on the months gone by,
As a new year starts and an old one ends,
We contemplate what brought us joy,
And we think of our loved ones and our friends.

Recalling all the happy times,
Remembering how they enriched our lives,
We reflect upon who really counts,
As the fresh and bright new year arrives.

And when we ponder those who do,
We immediately think of you.

Thanks for being one of the reasons We'll have a Happy New Year!

Stamp Camp Card # 4

Sympathy cards are always hard to create when needed, here's a simplistic design that can be recreated with any 2 coordinating designer papers and coordinating cardstock.

A bright and colorful Birthday card. As we were creating it, I had the class emboss the melon mambo back panel as well (with the dots embossing folder) to create even more pizzazz.

Marine Care Packages - A message from Susan B.

The following message is sent on behalf of Susan B. to our stamping crew:

Hello everyone - For those wanting to help out and/or coming to the December Stamp Camp.....No obligation/pressure at all but I am trying to put another few care packages together for the Marines, including a family friend in Afghanistan. This would be an ideal time for us to clean out unwanted cards we have made and send over, so that the troops can use these to send to their family/friends. No CVS stores on every corner over there! :)

Items appreciated:

**Any unwanted cards
Baby wipes
Lip Balm
Any peanut product (M&M, Peanut butter, crackers, trail mix, etc)
Reading material (Books, crosswords, puzzles, etc)
Special food treats
School Supplies (rebuilding schools - so paper, notebooks, glue, pencils, scissors, erasers, etc)
Anything you think a soldier would appreciate it!

Again no pressure to provide anything but when I heard about greeting cards, I thought of our group. If they want to bring to the card class next week, I can take it from there. Or we can arrange some other way to get it.

Thanks,
Susan

Vendor Craft Fair - was a success!!

Thanks to everyone that stopped by the craft fair for moral support and BIG thank you to Susan, Lori, and Karen for working my booth with me and keeping me company. I hope you had as much fun as I did and I couldn't have done it without you!

I know you are dying to know the verdict...drumroll........it was a very nice success for me and I am thrilled. I sold out of my Halo's (which is what I wanted to do!!) The Halo's and spirit wands were the biggest hit of the night, the 2nd biggest hit was definitely the snowman and angel bars. I still have some of those left along with several other items which will be going in my etsy shop for sale and/or elsewhere for sale. If you see something that I have posted over the last month or two for sale and want to purchse, just let me know!

Stamp Camp Card # 1

Stamp Camp is today at 1:00. November's stamp camp features holiday/winter cards. For those that don't need additional holiday cards, you can stamp another sentiment to turn some of the more generic images into a "birthday" card or switch out the image/sentiment entirely. Here's 1 of the cards that we are doing that would work either way as a Birthday, Happy New Year or Holiday card. Don't you just love these polar bears in their "party hats"? Too stinkin' cute!

Vendor Craft Fair - Doggie Treat Bags

Looky what we have here....Some doggie treat bags! These cute bags are filled with some Milk Bones and several other "shaped" treats from Milk Bone brand and then finished with the perfect bag topper. Even if your "Fido" doesn't have a stocking, you know you HAVE to get him/her a little something special during the holidays :) I am probably going to make 20-30 of these.

Vendor Craft Fair - Deluxe Snowman Wrapped Candy Bars

Here are some of my Deluxe Snowman Wrapped Candy Bars for the vendor craft fair.
I have 5 in blue done and 7 in pink. I will be making more...just not sure exactly how many. The hats and scarves are done out of fleece. They are perfect for handing out to people that stop by unexpectedly (Christmas Carolers) or even neighborhood kids, classroom friends, a teacher/coach or even attach to
"fresh baked goods" for your neighbors as a little something extra! They also make great stocking stuffers!

Kids Halloween Treat Tins Project

Here's the 2nd project I did with the kids this month for Halloween. It's a cute little tin with a belly band, ribbon and tag. Inside are decorated nuggets for Halloween. Naturally, anything involving candy is a huge hit. These are perfect for a Halloween party favor OR a little gift for a teacher, friend, neighbor, coach etc. It's important to make sure that you don't adhere the belly band TO the tin, you want to be able to have it slide right off the tin :)

Kids Halloween Treat Bag/Box

I had a kids Halloween craft class this month too. (Yes, it was a busy month for me with lots of different classes all over!) Anyhow, after changing my mind numerous times on what they were going to do, I finally decided on 2 projects. Here's the first of 2 crafty "treat things" they decorated. I provided the wood gift bags (I painted them black before I gave them to kids) and then they got to choose the background paper, designer paper to wrap around them as well as the ribbons, tag color etc. I saw a sample from another talented designer and had to follow her lead for this project 'cause I have been oogling it for years. I also provided the candy/treats inside the boxes for them so it can either be an "instant" gift for a teacher/friend or they can keep it for themselves. I blew my budget on this class, but they kids really enjoyed them so it was well worth it.

Halloween Bat Treat Cone/Box

This is my version of a creation our SU founder Shelli Gardner shared at Convention this year. It's a bat box/cone created using the SU Petal Cone Die and SU Pennant Die from Stampin' Up! and the Big Shot. I searched for a tutorial and/or directions and could never find one, so I "winged" it ;) (Nice pun with the project being a bat - huh?) :)

Anyhow, I think it turned out pretty darn cute and you can easily stuff it with some little treats for a nice halloween treat container for your kiddos/grandkids or even a favorite teacher/coach.

Some tips/tricks:
*The wings went through the spider web embossing folder to give them some "veins".
*I used some glitter glue and just smushed it all over the bat with my finger to give it that glistening you see.
*I cut thin strips of that bright green paper and rolled them around in my hand to give them texture. You could also run them through a crimper.
*I added some black curling ribbon (instead of black c/s) to the green paper simply because I had it on hand. (I like the difference in texture that it gives the filler...the round curls vs. the crinkled shred.)
*Googly eyes attached with glue dots after the glitter dries.
*Free hand cut the teeth
*Circle punch for the mouth and to create the bottom of the wings.

This sample is for sale after 9/30 if interested, let me know.

Teen Boy Thank you notes

Had to make some "cool" Thank you notes for my son.
Came up with these 2 designs during the Redskins game.
He liked them, so that's what matters. Kept it simple with sponging on the sentiment and image to go with the background paper and "dull" the bright white cardstock. Sorry the mat layers are not straight/not even - I was having an "off" day.

Baby Boy/Birthday Cards - Hybrid Style part 2

Baby Boy/Birthday Cards - Hybrid Style

I have a vendor fair coming up in December at the local elementary school. I should really be concentrating on other stuff coming up BEFORE December, but for some reason I had the urge to work on some stuff for that. So today I knocked out 16 quickie "hybrid" cards. Simple designs using some of my favorite clip art that I accented with glitter/ribbon. You will probably see a lot of this from me in the coming months just changing the color schemes/art work.
