My SU perpetual Birthday calendar class - Sample

I got a couple questions like..."What's a perpetual Birthday calendar class?" It's a calendar that has the month and days listed but NO year. You stamp on each month to decorate it and then you would write people's birthday's/anniversary's etc on the dates so you remember when to send cards. Here's a sample of the August page that I did on my master calendar...(you can change it if you want at the class.) I had to scan it in 2 sections since the calendar is longer than my scanner. Hopefully that clears up any confusion.

Here are the details on my class:

Monogram Initial Note Card Sets

I have to make several monogram note card sets for various teachers, staff, office assistants and RE instructors. I decided to go to my old favorite layout for monogram note cards and mass create them. Tonight I got done with the first round. I plan to make several color schemes using various designer papers so each person has a few different colors. This is my "brown and pink" set and I chose the accent colors of the card stock based upon what was in the designer paper. I love the designer paper because it is loaded with sparkly glitter accents on top of the designs (which is very hard to see in the photo.) It is much prettier in real life. Since my note cards are very casual, I decided to do the first letter of their first name as the monogram instead of their last name. (If I had a more elegant design, I would have used last name.) Anyhow, I will post 'em as I get them done...hopefully a batch a night over the next couple of nights.

Christmas/Holiday Cards

I have received a few requests to post my various holiday cards that I am sending out this year. That's actually tough to do...I have over 20 different cards that are going out to over 100+ people and I neglected to scan all of them since I did most of them back in the Spring of 2009...ooops! The good news is that some of them have been posted over the last year on my webshots site. (Speaking of which...here's the website... http://community.webshots.com/user/su70928 )

The webshots site has got more projects/cards on it than my blog since it is older and has archives AND I can group things together better. Check it out if you are looking for some inspiration!

This Snow Lady is one that I don't think made it up on my blog yet and is one of my favs.

Girl Scouts Holiday Card

I had the girl scouts over this weekend to stamp and this is one of the holiday cards they could choose. (For those that didn't want Santa, they used a snowman and changed the sentiment to either Season's Greetings or Happy Holidays, but I don't have any pictures of that - sorry!) The card is standard layout.

Stamps: Santa = Holiday Tag Team; Sentiment = Season of Joy
Accessories: Red ribbon, Ticket Corner Punch, Scallop punches, SU embossing Folder, Markers

Girl Scout Kids Class Project

Every holiday season I do a special class for one of the local girl scout troops. This is the "craft" item that they are making this weekend...a nice little treat for a friend or teacher.

Hint: Over the past few months the York Peppermint Patties have been repackaged and are now in a "foil pouch" instead of the nice ROUND wrapper (which is what is needed for these darling trinkets.) Sooo, after searching high and low, I discovered that the there is a brand name called Pearsons that you can get at Walmart. Also, if you want to go a bit more expensive the incredible tasting DOVE BLISS pieces of chocolate work well too. (They are kinda rounded squares but still work great. I highly recommend the PEPPERMINT BARK or CARAMEL ones.) :)

Holiday Cards - no stamping!

Took a break from cleaning up to play today :)
I actually found all these supplies in a stack of holiday "stuff" that I think I probably touched this past Spring when I got my holiday cards done. (Sheepish grin.) So, while we were watching a movie, I colored the images and cut them out. Then I simply attached the sticker sentiment, ribbon, decorative paper and embossed c/s to the white card with the colored image and viola - instant card.

The penguin and santa images are two of my favs :)
Hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend before it is back to work/school!

Dasher

Here's a nice card using one of my favorite new SU stamps - Dasher.
See how simply by adding the partial circle behind the reindeer it can change the whole feel of the card? I love the "snow crested" hills (thank you to dazzling diamonds for that!) and the slight yellow tinge around the moon...love that effect too!

Stamp Sets: Dasher and Christmas Punch (hostess set)

Happy Thanksgiving!

Here's a great card from a recent swap I did. I love that the flower is from a Valentine's themed set and gets "double duty" here . The sentiment are two different ones put together. The ribbon piece is a small "leftover" that most people would have thrown out, but I kept and it ties in the the overall scheme of things with the browns.

Hope your Turkey Day is filled with yummy food and great family memories!

Peppermint Patty Spiders from Kids Class

I neglected to post these from a kids class I did back in October. They were a HUGE hit with the kids. (Anything involving candy usually is - LOL!) You need to use the small peppermint patties that are individually wrapped in foil...don't use the ones in the foil "rectangular packets" that you tear open...you need the ones in the foil that is folded around the patty and you peel off.

Again, I missed out on pictures of the kids and these are samples from other people...but you get the drift. The kids tweaked theirs alot and made designs (think stars, hearts, dollar signs etc.) for the eyes...they were very unique.

If you don't like the 3-D spider, simply create the spider as a 1-D embellishment for the front of a halloween card :)

You can use a nose or not, create the same colored legs or different and tweak them as much as you want. I think they are adorable :)

Altered Notebook/Journal

Here's my version of an altered notebook/journal we did at my kids crafting class at the local school. Unfortunatley I did not get pictures of the other kids journals. They were FANTASTIC. I gave them the basic color scheme and then let them go to it with the glitter, glue, embellishments, punches, jems/jewels, buttons, ribbons, decorative papers etc. It was so neat to see how each of the girls made their journals their own by using the different materials. The size of the journal was 5x7 and I applied a layer of sealant over it when I was done so I wouldn't have glitter flaking off of it.

11/27 Stamp Camp canceled

Hey Everyone - thanks SO MUCH for responding so quickly that you can't make the stamp camp on 11/27. It makes it easier on me to cancel it now than delay since I have heard from the majority of my regulars that they can't make it.

With that said, I honestly know that I CAN'T have a stamp camp in on a Friday night before the New Year...it's pure craziness here and you know I have massive family arriving in December for an extended stay.

If I am able to squeeze a stamp camp together, it would have to be on a weekend and those are busy enough as it is around the holidays for most people. (If you REALLY want to stamp on a weekend drop me an email and I will set something up - even if it is just a few cards/not an actual camp.) From this weekend through mid-December I need to get into "clean up" mode and figure out what to do with everything, but I can always take a break and stamp! I am just so happy I did the bulk of my Christmas cards back in JAN/FEB/MARCH of this year because there is NO WAY I could get them done now!

Anyhow, stay tuned on the blog as I will try to hit your in-boxes every couple of days with appropriate themed cards/projects. I just finished a decorated journal/notebook for a class that I am doing at the local Elem. school Wed. afternoon. Once the layer of sealer dries on it I will get a picture and post it on Wednesday!!

Monster Mash Treats

Another project that I did with the kids at the kids class this month. Inside the clear mini acrylic paint cans are these incredible "new" M&M's called "M&M's Premium". This flavor was chocoate mint and they taste very similar to a junior mint, but more chocolatly. They are so addicting. They don't have the crispy shell and instead have a "soft" shell that is marbelized to give them a really cool look. Anyhow, the project was simple, attach designer paper around the can, add some punched accents (bats or spiders), add the matted label on top of the can and some various ribbons tied to the can and VIOLA! The kids loved it.

Halloween Treat Project

I had a kids class at the local Elementary school last week and this was one of their creations. They stamped the cardstock and then created the box for the oversized lollipop and filled it with black paper shred. They also stamped a simple matted tag and then we tied it up with some colorful ribbon. The kids loved it!

An hour to spare...

After lunch today, I had about an hour to kill (where I should have been cleaning, but was procastinating)...you know how that goes...

Anyhow, I uncovered a stack of designer paper that was in a bag (hence the reason I should have been cleaning!) and decided to quickly put a couple of sheets to good use. The cards are actually from 2 packs of store bought cards that I got on clearance at Michael's. (They had an initial on them originally.) Anyhow, I simply covered the front with decorative paper, added some ribbon and a sentiment and viola! I have a couple of quickie note card sets to use as gifts or for myself. Very basic and very fast! Now...back to cleaning ;)

Fifth Avenue Floral

Hey everyone - I am back! Things here are in full swing with work and family and getting ready for all the back to school craziness. I haven't even looked at the pictures we took because things have just been super busy.

Anyhow, I wanted to showcase a neat card that cleverly uses up all the little "snippets" of ribbon that you may have lying around (or from when you give a nice diagonal cut to your ribbon on cards!) It's by another demo named J. Kahsin.

The stamp set is Fifth Avenue Floral.

Enjoy!

Fun in the sun....

Hey everyone:

Just an FYI, I am on vacation and not as easily reachable. I do have access to a computer to handle any urgent issues, but I honestly don't know how often I will be on it/and don't plan to be answering emails while on vacation.

I wasn't able to get a stamp camp put together for the end of August, (plus a lot of people I chatted with are trying to squeeze in all the last minute beach and pool time so I am concerned that attendance would be low.) The next stamp camp I have will be in September - most likely after school is back in session. The date will be announced later...stay tuned! If I am able to put together anything for early September, you all will be the first to know. I have over 50 incredible swaps to share from my demo only group and need to decide which ones to make first!

As always, you may place any orders while I am gone directly through my Stampin' Up! website at: www.juliesaylor.stampinup.net

Also: Don't forget my anniversary special...the first 6 people to place an order prior to midnight on 8/31 through my website will get a free pack of Stampin Up cardstock OR their choice of any color classic ink pad.
