2012 Goals...update - January's Christmas cards!

Just a quick update, I completed my January cardmaking goal of making 10 Christmas cards a month by October 2012. Woohoo! Oh! I made 14 of them too, so I am ahead right? - LOL. Not too sure I am feeling the simplicity of them, but sometimes simple is better - right?? (At least that is what I am telling myself!) HA!

I saw a similar design online to this. For mine, I changed it up and added a red mat and left the edges blank (no extra fro-frou edging/embossing.) It's kinda hard to tell in the scan, but I put diamond stickles on the roof tops to give the effect of glistening snow.

I should have a date set for January's stamp camp in the next day or so. I am looking towards the end of the month as I will still need time to prepare! Hope you get some stamping/crafting time in this weekend!

Christmas/Holiday Cards

I have received a few requests to post my various holiday cards that I am sending out this year. That's actually tough to do...I have over 20 different cards that are going out to over 100+ people and I neglected to scan all of them since I did most of them back in the Spring of 2009...ooops! The good news is that some of them have been posted over the last year on my webshots site. (Speaking of which...here's the website... http://community.webshots.com/user/su70928 )

The webshots site has got more projects/cards on it than my blog since it is older and has archives AND I can group things together better. Check it out if you are looking for some inspiration!

This Snow Lady is one that I don't think made it up on my blog yet and is one of my favs.

Girl Scouts Holiday Card

I had the girl scouts over this weekend to stamp and this is one of the holiday cards they could choose. (For those that didn't want Santa, they used a snowman and changed the sentiment to either Season's Greetings or Happy Holidays, but I don't have any pictures of that - sorry!) The card is standard layout.

Stamps: Santa = Holiday Tag Team; Sentiment = Season of Joy
Accessories: Red ribbon, Ticket Corner Punch, Scallop punches, SU embossing Folder, Markers

Holiday Cards - no stamping!

Took a break from cleaning up to play today :)
I actually found all these supplies in a stack of holiday "stuff" that I think I probably touched this past Spring when I got my holiday cards done. (Sheepish grin.) So, while we were watching a movie, I colored the images and cut them out. Then I simply attached the sticker sentiment, ribbon, decorative paper and embossed c/s to the white card with the colored image and viola - instant card.

The penguin and santa images are two of my favs :)
Hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend before it is back to work/school!

A fun weekend!

We had a really great time "cardmaking and scrapping the days away" this weekend. I focused on some Easter/Spring cards and some Winter/Christmas cards. (It's NEVER too early to start on your Christmas cards! - just think if you do 5 a month now, your will have 50 of them done in December!!) I will be sharing everything over the coming week.

You will notice that I stuck with a fairly basic layout/sketch and simple changed papers/images/sentiments/ribbon. (If it isn't broken, why bother to fix it??) Since it is 32 degrees this am (and feeling like Winter) here are the 2 variations of my penguin winter card. The only thing I changed was the mat color on the sentiment and the sentiment itself.

Holiday Thank you Notes

After some of my cards made their way around some parents, I received a custom order for some thank you notes. Since, I still needed to make several thank you notes for our family/friends I combined the two. I kept the same design/layout switching from horizontal to vertical at times and changing out the ribbon, embossing folder, and sentiment occasionally. Enjoy!

Hope everyone had a good Christmas and great '08 and is ready for an even better 2009! I want to add a couple of new things to my blog and just hope that I can make them materialize. I already have an online store at ETSY and some people have asked if there is a way to just add a "FOR SALE" section to the blog...I will look into that after the 1st of the year....stay tuned.

Holiday Cards

Today was the last day of school and I was there pretty much there, the whole day helping out with the Holiday parties etc. For one of the parties, I was in charge of the activities and I needed to come up with some craft ideas for the kids. I came up with having the kids make 4 holiday cards of their choice. I used some special holiday images that I printed and they cut them out and matted them to c/s, then they added decorative strips or whatever they liked. I was going for the more simplistic approach with the cards since we didn't have a lot of time. Here are my quick samples to give you an idea. The kids then donated some of their card creations to a local nursing home and could take home the rest if they liked and use them or save them. They were a big hit!
